The real benefit of the Phoenix tine is that it will last at least as long as a carbide-tipped tine without the worry of having the risk of having a tip fall off to be found by the next greens mower. By not having bulky carbide tips the cut and core are superior resulting in a hole that is easier to top-dress and recovers much faster. Since Phoenix tines are stronger a thick wall is not necessary. At thinner tine wall results in a larger core diameter and a more effective aerification by removing more material.
All Phoenix tines are warranted to last as long as the equivalent carbide tipped tine.
